In-studio Posed and Lifestyle Newborn Photo Session // Detroit Newborn Photographer
My goodness, this sweet baby girl was a dream. She just wanted to sleep and be comfy, and she let me do whatever posing with her in the meantime! And look at all of her gorgeous hair. Mama said that big brother was born with a full head of hair too. :)
You’ll see a good amount of photos of baby girl with her big brother in this gallery. What every parent wants from their newborn session is a photo or two of the two kids together, right? Let me start by saying it isn’t always successful. Not necessarily what you want to hear, but I’m being honest. Now I try my darnest to get that shot, and multiple if I can. I’ll keep trying until you’re ready to call it. I have the patience of a saint, I’ve been told (hmm, maybe not with my own children though!). So we will work it as long as we can! But there’s a few things I always suggest to my clients that we do to get those adorable pictures. (For reference, her older sibling is three.)
Here’s my secret that I’m going to share with you: I recommend to my clients that mama and baby come to the studio first for the posed newborn portraits. The studio is a super relaxed environment, and this also gives baby a chance to get in a feeding and then drift off to sleep. The bonus to this is the mom also gets time to relax. For pete’s sake, she did just give labor within a week or two so I’d say it is well deserved! After about 1.5/2 hours is when I tell my clients to have dad bring the siblings to the studio for the family photos and sibling shots. This ensures that toddlers aren’t having to try and be entertained for two hours while not disturbing the sleeping babe. And honestly, mom and dad appreciate it too - trust me. :) So that is my big secret… now you know! Of course it is always helpful that the siblings have been feed a big breakfast or lunch beforehand too. Being hangry is a real thing, especially for toddlers!
I know this isn’t always possible depending on work schedules, nap schedules and so forth. And I’m happy to work with your family according to your needs, of course. :)
Go ahead and take a look at this babe and her family’s photos. What a season in life to capture.
