Detroit Senior Pictures Downtown and In A Flower Field | Violet
When my client says she wants her high school senior pictures with two different looks, downtown Detroit as well as lots of flowers and a lavender field, then we do both !
Meet Violet, Class of 2025!
I met Violet and her parents at my studio in Utica, Michigan for her senior portrait consultation. The consultation gives my client the time to tell me exactly what they want for the aesthetic of their senior photos, and I can also show them several different examples, too.
The added bonus of having a consultation? It really helps my seniors feel more comfortable the day of the photo shoot because it takes away the added layer of stress of not knowing me and what I’m like. They quickly learn I’m laid back, I’ll carry the conversation, and I’ll guide you through the entire photo session (plus I think I’m a little fun, too ;)).
Having your high school senior pictures taken in Detroit always delivers. I’m a city gal at heart, so getting the city scape, the street walking pictures, the tall buildings, the alleys - it can’t be beat.
The black and white senior pictures above look like they’re straight from a Seventeen Magazine ad (yes, I know I just aged myself!). Violet brought along her sunglasses and clutch for some accessories, and I love the added vibe it gave. Don’t hesitate to bring along accessories to your senior session - it always gives a little extra something to the pictures, even if it’s just for a few!
I mentioned Violet wanted flowers, right? I did a little scouting around the city beforehand to find all these gorgeous flowers above. To say Violet was super happy about it is an understatement!
Having your senior pictures in this famous alley in Detroit is a must if you’re in the city! It gives classy yet hip vibes, and honestly, it gives so many options for what you can wear. Dress it up or dress it down, it works. Violet went with a classic outfit, and Americana, and it’s perfection. Notice the added button down shirt she brought along? We played with that around her waist and wearing off the shoulder to give her a variety of looks - win, win!
We wanted to finish the session at the Lavender Farm for that soft, evening glow. The second we arrived at the Lavendar Farm, it was SO peaceful and relaxing. You could literally smell lavender from the parking lot, and the sound of the bees buzzing amongst the flowers.
Violet went timeless with her white knitted dress and soft curls. Can we have a moment to recognize the adorable scarf in her hair? Mom found it and it literally has the details of lavender on the scarf. Again, a small accessory but it adds so much!
Bonus at the Lavender Farm was this field of wild flowers! My jaw literally dropped when I saw it. What is not pictured are the sheer number of mosquito bites we all got (and the ones I edited out!), but was it worth it? YES!
Side note: the lavender is in full bloom in July/August, so if you’re wanting a session at the lavender farm, keep those months in the back of your mind!
Quick question, are you more of a city session or a nature session type of senior?
xo,
Chelsie
