Baby Leo | Rochester Hills Mi Newborn Photographer
I don’t think I’ve ever photographed a more smiley newborn baby! Leo came to the studio for his photo shoot and was so sleepy and dreamy. With little babies, sometimes I’ll catch some newborn smiles, but like I said, Leo gave multiple throughout his session. Call it gas if you want, but this baby boy is just happy!
When I spoke with his mama to plan his session, she shared that Leo is a rainbow baby and wanted to incorporate some of that within his photo session.
A rainbow baby is a baby that is born after the loss of a baby or miscarriage.
Leo’s big brother, Mason, passed away about a year ago, after only an hour’s worth of time after being born. We wanted to honor Mason at the session as well, so we did just that as we would any sibling. Meeting this sweet family, photographing Leo, and chatting about their experiences - my heart just wanted to both cry tears of sadness for their loss and burst with happiness for their welcoming of Leo. With situations of loss, it can be hard to know how to talk about it, but both parents were so open about it, and honestly educated me on how it is ok and appropriate to talk about Mason and his impact and part in the family.

This teddy bear is called a Molly Bear. Molly Bears are weighted bears that are the weight of the baby that passed. When I held the Molly Bear the family brought, it was such a beautiful keepsake to hold that bear and feel the same weight that their sweet Mason was when he was born.
They’re such an absolutely gorgeous, genuine and kind family.
